Mrs. Sherman 96 passed away November 3, 2011 at Gladwin Pines following a lingering illness. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 2, 1915 to the late William & Emma (Frantz) Yanke. She married Ernest Sherman on July 6, 1935 at Zion Lutheran Church, Gladwin. He preceded her in death in April 2000. She was retired from Gladwin Hospital as head cook, a member of the Golden Agers, Home Extension, Red Hat Society and Our Savior Lutheran Church. She is survived by her children; Marilyn Hutson of Gladwin, Ernestine Pagano of Yuma, Az, Judith & Gary Grove of Columbia, TN and Linda Smyth of Bad Axe; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 grand Sons Gary Grove and James Huston, 2 son in laws Richard Seige and Wilbur Hutson, a brother Ed Yanke and a sister Lydia Naeyaert. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 11 am from Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Norman Betke presiding with burial in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Sisson Funeral Home on Monday from 3 to 8 pm. On Tuesday Mrs. Sherman will lie in state at the church from 10 am until time of services. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Our Savior Lutheran Church Building Fund. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mid Michigan Gladwin Pines for the compassionate care Alma received.
