Barbara J. Beckwith, 74 of Gladwin, passed away at her home December 26, 2011 after a long battle with heart disease and cancer. She was born at home on March 12, 1937 in West Branch, Michigan, where she lived most of her life. She married Vernon Beckwith of West Branch in 1958 and was preceeded in death by him in 1993. Barbara was an avid bowler for 38 years, being on leagues in Gladwin, Beaverton and West Branch. In 1988, she was inducted into the Gladwin-Beaverton WIBC Bowlers Hall of Fame. She also loved golfing and was on a league at Sugar Springs for many years. Barbara was always the clown and brightened many lives with her quirkiness and antics. She was always there for those who needed help. Traveling, fishing and crafting were her pastimes, but her favorite pastime was cooking. She adored gathering her family around her for huge meals and new recipes. Another one of her favorites was teaching her great-grandaughters proper etiquette for her tea parties. She touched so many lives and is sadly missed by her family and friends. Barbara is survived by 3 children: Bonnie Scott/Troy of Gladwin, Timothy Beckwith/Janna of Vanderbilt and Douglas Beckwith/Christine of Gladwin. 9 grandchildren: Charles(Steve) Breece of Gladwin, Lucretia Breece of Cleveland, OH, Jason Breece of Gladwin, Jared Breece/Maggee of Freeland, Thomas Scott II, Kayla Beckwith, Dougie Beckwith all of Gladwin and Nicole Beckwith and Tyler Beckwith of Grayling, 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are 4 sisters: Janet Sowmick of West Branch, Clara Pasko of Bay City, Doris Perkins of West Branch and Mildred Jackson of Alabama. Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at The Edward's Community Church in West Branch from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm and on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 10:00 am.-11:00 am.
