Obituary for Beatrice M. Ewald
Beatrice Marie Ewald, age 97, of Gladwin, passed away from this world on Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Mid-Michigan Medical Gladwin Pines Nursing Center. She had been a 9 year resident of the Gladwin Pines Nursing Center. She was born November 10, 1913 in Hersey, MI the daughter of Levi and Marjie Mae Richmond.
She married Eugene A. Ewald on April 14, 1934 in Brightmoor, MI. Beatrice had lived in Gladwin County for more than 62 years having previously lived in Dearborn, MI. She was a homemaker and also prepared meals for Chappel Dam School and the old Gladwin Hospital. Beatrice and Eugene were very active members of the Wagarville United Methodist Church and she is still an inactive member of the Wagarville United Methodist Women. She and Eugene had both enjoyed square dancing and traveling and were past members of the Cedar River Riding Club. Beatrice was honored for 133 hours of volunteer work for the American Red Cross.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Ewald on Dec. 6, 1994, daughter Dianna, four brothers; Ralph, Wallis, Earl and Arthur Richmond and two great-grandsons, Jerome and Jason Grove.
She is survived by her son; Richard (Shari) Ewald of Gladwin, MI. Daughter’s; Sharon (Russell) DeBolt of Williamsburg, MI and Christine (Michael) Grove of Duchesne, UT. Sister-in-laws; Lilamae (Leonard) Fischer of Gladwin, MI and Shirley Ewald Maton, MI. Niece; Sandy (Dick) Hawkins of Drummond Island, MI. Grandchildren; Michelle Ewald of Portage, MI; Craig (Heidi) Ewald of Portage, MI; Scott (Brenda) DeBolt of Durango, CO; Marcy DeBolt (Sheldon Green) of New York; Sean (Laura) DeBolt of Freeland, MI; April (Terry) Holp of Wyoming, MI and Uriah (Anitra) Grove of Kentucky. Great-Grandchildren; Victora, Ben (Dakota) Ewald, Dana, Lukas, and Faith DeBolt; Janessa Beck and Kyle Holp; Maranda, Alowyshes, and Uriah Grove Jr. and Step-Great-Grandchildren Trajan, Brittany, Lauren Centers, Amanda Garza and Alyssa Wolpert. Great-Great Granddaughter Bryce Michelle Ewald.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Wagarville United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Simon officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011 from 2-8 PM at the Sisson Funeral Home. Interment will be in McClure Cemetery.
