Mrs. Bernier 95 loving wife of the late Edward W. Bernier passed away Tuesday May 2, 2017 at the Pines of Gladwin following a good life. She was born in Detroit on April 30, 1922 to the late Earl & Emma (Gronau) Foss. She and Ed met as teenagers while spending summers at Lake Chemung in Howell, Michigan. They married in 1942. They lived in Dearborn, Webberville and Swartz Creek before retiring to Lincoln, Michigan. After raising their three children, Bernie worked as a rural postal carrier as she thought it would be fun. She then retired in 1982. She and Ed spent many years traveling and wintering in California and Arizona. She valued spending time with her family and took them on three wonderful cruises. Bernie loved being active and enjoyed golfing, playing cards and bingo. She has been an on-going member of the WELS Lutheran Church throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, a son Gerald Bernier and a daughter in law Jean Strbik Bernier. She is survived by her daughter Patricia and partner Charlene, a son Brian & Cynthia and a daughter in law Marie Lingham. She also leaves behind two granddaughters, three great grandchildren, five step- grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday May 6, 2017 at 11 am from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 17810 Farmington, Livonia, Michigan with Pastor Paul Metzger presiding with burial in Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia. Family will be present at the church on Saturday from 10 am until time of services.Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alzheimer’s Research foundation or Heartland Hospice of West Branch, Michigan
