Daniel Eugene Shaffer entered the Kingdom of Heaven October 5th following a short illness. He leaves his beloved wife Debbie, parents Don and Nancy, son Dan (Sue) Shaffer and step children Chet (Mandy) Loar and Stephanie (Joshua) Armstrong. He is preceded in death by his loving and devoted son Todd.
He was born March 20th 1954 and has been a long time resident of Beaverton. Dan is known for his service to his Country and his community. He joined the Air Force shortly after graduating in 1971. He served 8 years as Specialized Technician of Aircraft Maintenance. Upon Honorary Discharge, he returned to Beaverton and joined Beaverton Area Fire Department. He worked his way to Fire Chief, taught Fire Science and helped to build the EMS and Rescue program in the community.
Dan is survived by his siblings Jane (Eric) Heckart, Jean (Dan) Mercer, Mary Somsel, Ron (Mary) Shaffer. A proud Grandpa of 12 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, a devoted Christian and a loving friend to many.
Services are planned for 11:00am Saturday, October 11th at the Beaverton Church of the Brethren; 3783 Shock Road. A luncheon will be held at the Church following the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Sisson Funeral Home.
