Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Edith E. Kemp passed away in the early hours of June 29, 2019 at the age of 101 years. She was born on June 20, 1918 in Highland Park, Michigan to George A. and Sarah (nee Stone) Lundy. Edith was raised and attended school, in Highland Park.
Edith married Clarence G. Kemp on October 2, 1937 in Highland Park. They spent their married years in Berkley, Michigan and Port St. Lucie, Florida. Clarence passed away on April 26, 1992 after they shared 54 beautiful years of marriage. In her final years mom moved to Gladwin County. Mom’s employment years included six years at S. S. Kresge and 18 years at J. C. Penney department stores.
Edith and Clarence had three children. Daughters Judy Ann McRoberts who passed away May 2019, Connie Lee Kemp who passed away July 2014 and a son Richard George (Susan K.) Kemp of Hope, MI who survives her. Edith also has four grandchildren, Susan M. (Jeff) Kelley, Michael R. Kemp, Kristine L. (Alex) Yeremin, William C. (Sharon) McRoberts and six great grandchildren, Megan and Brennan Kelley, Evelyn and Leo Yeremin, and Cassandra and Cody McRoberts.
Edith has resided at The Horizon Senior Living VI in Gladwin, Michigan this past year. The wonderful staff and fellow residents held a 101 birthday party for her this past week. Her smiles and happiness reflected those of the person’s in attendance who shared her celebration. Our family cannot say enough about the outstanding care she received from the Horizon staff and Compassus nursing staff from West Branch.
There will be visitation at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-GLADWIN CHAPEL on Wednesday July 3, 2019 from 2 to 3 pm., with private interment at Butman Township Cemetery, Gladwin, Michigan.
