Mr. Schoonover 92 passed away Thursday January 31, 2019 at Gladwin Nursing and Rehabilitation with his loving family at his side following lingering illness. He was born in Rochester, Michigan on March 26, 1926 to the late Edward & Helen (Burch) Schoonover. Ed was a veteran of WII serving in the U. S. Navy. He was retired in 1981 from Chrysler motors as a journey man and moved to the Beaverton area in 1982. He married the former Myrtle “Jean” Watson in Rochester on August 23, 1947 and she preceded him in death on September 5, 2018. He enjoyed visiting with his family, but his greatest enjoyment was loving his wife. He enjoyed camping, reading his bible and was the man to call to fix anything that was broken.
He is survived by his children Marlyce & Bruce Seidelman, Myrna Morrissey, Verndalene Ashley and the late Orville (Linda) Schoonover; 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Tillman Schoonover, 2 sisters Irlene Yeager and Grace Stempke.
Funeral services will be held Monday February 4, 2019 at 11am from the Gladwin First United Methodist Church with Rev. Cheryl Mancier presiding with burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery Holly, Michigan. Family will be present at the Sisson Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 8 pm to greet family and friends. On Monday Mr. Schoonover will lie in state at church from 10 am until time of services. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the wishes of the family
