Obituary for Elsie Wanda Strohkirch
Elsie Wanda Strohkirch, 90, of Gladwin, passed away on April 4, 2013.Elsie was born October 6, 1922, to Richard and Olga Endert.  On December 8, 1945, Elsie became the bride of Lewis Strohkirch at Zion Lutheran Church in Oberlin and they are now together again.Together, Lewis and Elsie operated the Gladwin Farmer’s Supply Store which Lewis had founded in 1941, and today known as Gladwin ACE Hardware.  Elsie was the Salutatorian of Gladwin Rural Agricultural High School Class of 1940.  She graduated from Bay City Business College in 1942.  During World War II she worked at Dow Chemical Company.  Elsie was a life-long member of Zion, St. Paul’s, and Our Savior Lutheran Church.  She very much enjoyed teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and being a member of Ladies Aid.  Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, and tending her Irises.Elsie was preceded by her husband, Lewis; sisters, Helen Spross and Mildred Simon; an infant brother; and several nieces and nephews.Elsie is survived by her three children, Richard (Annmarie) Strohkirch, Alice (Lee) Fritts, and Sue (David Hirschey) Strohkirch; grandchildren, Chris Fritts, Nathan, Jeremy, Laura, and Ariel Strohkirch; and three great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Babcock, Esther Wright, and Elfrieda (Edwin) Gatz; brother-in-law, Robert Simon; and many nieces and nephews.Specials thanks to the staff of Edna Mae’s Leisurely Living, AFC and Hospice of Michigan.Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. James Krach on Monday, April 8th, 11:00AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin, with calling hours one hour before the service.Calling hours will be Sunday, April 7, from 1:00 – 8:00PM at Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 331 W. Clendening Rd., Gladwin, MI 48624 or Hospice of Michigan, 3995 Fashion Square Blvd., Suite 1, Saginaw, MI 48603.
