Obituary for Fern Hazel Asch
Fern Hazel (Rosevear) Asch, age 98, of Beaverton, MI, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Gladwin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gladwin, MI. The middle of 5 children, she was born to Guy and Emma (Nichols) Rosevear on January 15, 1912 in Rose City, MI. The family moved to Beaverton after her father died in the great 1918 Flu Epidemic. After graduating from Beaverton High School and County Normal, she taught in one room schools around Gladwin County. She married Sam Asch Jr., in 1937 and farmed 320 acres in Tobacco Township for over 43 years. She raised three children and taught beginning piano. Fern was active in the Community of Christ and served as the women’s leader, district women’s leader and branch historian. She was a fabric artist whose quilts and wall hangings were on exhibit in 1980 at the Midland Center for the Arts. She enjoyed traveling, camping, and the outdoors. She is preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, husband Sam, and infant daughter Joy. She is survived by daughter Mary Jane (Richard) Miller, sons David (Julieann) Asch and Howard (Jill) Asch; 4 grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and devoted friend Janise London. A special thanks to Dr. Frank Seck and Gladwin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of their excellent care. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Community of Christ in Beaverton with Elder Roger Wiltse officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 5-8 P.M. at the Sisson Funeral Home, Gladwin, MI. Interment will be in Dale Cemetery in Beaverton, MI. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in memory of Fern, to the Community of Christ.
