Floy A. Earls, age 93, passed away Monday, August 12, 2013. She was born December 12, 1919 in Midland, Michigan. Her parents were George Feaster, Sr and Nellie (Bailey) Feaster. Predeceased are her half-sister Rhea Matthews of St. Helen, MI, brothers George, Jr ,Lawrence Feaster and sister, Ellen Burch all of Midland. She was preceded in death in 1997 by her husband of 58 years, Darwin A. Earls and by her eldest son Jerry Lee Earls in 2012. She lived her entire life in Midland except for 15 years when she and her husband resided in Florida after retirement and until his death.
Floy was a homemaker until her children were grown. Two jobs she most enjoyed in the early 1980’s were as a greeter at Midland Center for the Arts and as a cook at Kings Daughters Home in Midland. Floy always had a smile on her face and laughter came as second nature to her; you were never a stranger around her.
Surviving are her sons, Ken (Phyllis) Earls of Prescott Valley, AZ, Steve (Judy) Earls of Coleman, MI. and daughters, Linda (Rod) Birks of Grand Junction, CO, Lois (David) Herbert of Simpsonville, SC, Ruth (Jeff) Challender of Traverse City, MI . She also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their warm appreciation for the love and care given to their mother while she lived at Brookdale Senior Living in Midland for several years. In addition, she has been living at Gladwin Pines Nursing Home in Gladwin for the past two years and has received more love and attention from them, for which the family is grateful.
A memorial service celebrating Floy’s life will be held in Midland at a later date.
