Floyd, age 94 passed away Thursday October 4, 2012 in Gladwin, MI. He was born on December 31, 1917 in Gladwin, MI to the late Elmer & Jennie (Knight) Koontz. He has resided in Gladwin his entire life. Floyd and the former Vera Donn were married for over 75 years. She survives him. He was a farmer most of his life, but also worked as a road construction foreman during his younger years. Floyd enjoyed deer hunting especially with his nephew, Robert Whisler of California. In addition to his wife, Vera, he is survived by his two daughters, Joyce Link of Saginaw, Barbara (Kenneth) Sterling of Ionia; two granddaughters, Michelle (Kunio) Ouellette of Essexville, and Victoria (Thomas) Dougherty of Orlando, FL; two great grandchildren, Sterling Ouellette and Lauren Ouellette of Essexville; sister, Lucille (Robert) Whisler of Gladwin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Walter (Delores) Donn of Florida, Ethel Donn of Lansing, Dorothy Foster of Gladwin, and many nieces and nephews. Floyd was predeceased by a son-in-law Carl Link and a nephew Michael Whisler.
Funeral Services will be held Monday October 8, 2012 at 11 am from Sisson Funeral Home, 135 N. Silverleaf St, Gladwin, Michigan 48652 with Pastor Lonnie Severance presiding with burial in Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the Sisson Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 7 pm. On Monday friends may call from 10 am until time of service. Memorial donations may be given to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice.
