Gary Owen Goodemoot

Gary made his transition on January 30, 2014 at Mid Michigan Medical Center-Midland after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. He was born on October 6, 1943 to Myron “Mike” and Lois (McCaul) Goodemoot. He graduated from Lake Odessa High School and furthered his studies at Michigan State University where he received his degree in Agricultural Business. Gary went on to become a District Director for Rural Development and retired in July 2004 with over 30 years of civil service. Gary was married July 21, 1983 and is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jill (Ward) Goodemoot; mother Lois Goodemoot; son Jeremy (Renee) Goodemoot; daughter Gretchen Ploeg; two step sons, Robert (Deanna) Nelson and Joseph (Tina) Nelson; ten grandchildren, one great grandchild; sisters Barbara (Denny) Sauers, Nancy (Phil) Potter, Geri Yeager and brother, Mark (Darlene) Goodemoot and many nieces and nephews. Gary is preceded in death by his father Myron, brother Roger and grandson Daniel Goodemoot. He also leaves behind his loving “girl” Battie the cat.
As an alumnus of Michigan State University, Gary was a season ticket holder for over 35 years and was able to attend this year’s Rose Bowl where the Michigan State Spartans gave him a win!!! Gary enjoyed playing golf, hunting and spending time with his beloved family.
Gary was employed part-time at Sisson’s Funeral Home and was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Gladwin, Michigan.
Visitation will be held at Sisson’s Funeral Home from 1:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2014 and Monday 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday February 3, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. The family is requesting that those wishing an expression of sympathy consider St. Paul’ Episcopal Church in Gladwin Michigan.
