Obituary for George A. Card
George A. Card, age 87, of Midland, MI, formerly of Gladwin, MI, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Midland Campus. He was born on June 28, 1922 in Gladwin County to the late Claude and Lila (Blaney) Card. George born and raised in Gladwin County and married Mary Matthews on August 15, 1941 in Gladwin. In 1948 he and Mary moved to Pinconning where they lived until 1988 when they moved back to Gladwin. He retired from Dow Chemical Company after over 30 years on employment. He was a WWII Veteran, member of the American Legion Post 7303, Member of the Gladwin First United Methodist Church. He loved spending time with his wife and family, hunting, fishing, woodworking and working in his garage. He was preceded in death by his Sister Eileen Gerred and Son in Law Walt Witte. He is survived by his wife Mary Card of Midland, MI; children, Donald (Jan) Card of Linwood, MI and Shirley Witte of Midland, MI. 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Sister Neva Burns of Alaska. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Gladwin First United Methodist Church with Pastor David Snyder officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the Sisson Funeral Home and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.
