Obituary for Haskell “Hal” Milton Stanton Jr.
Haskell “Hal” Milton Stanton Jr., age 81, of Gladwin, MI, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at the Gladwin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born January 3, 1929 in Amsterdam, New York the son of the late Haskell M. and Clara E. (Waterstreet) Stanton Sr. Hal loved spending time with his family, sailing, fishing and golfing. Hal was involved the First United Methodist Jail Ministries; Gladwin County Airport Commission, The Gideons International Gladwin Camp and was a volunteer at the Gladwin Elementary School. Throughout his life he was involved in the United Methodist Church and served in many campacities. Hal was preceded in death by his brother Robert Stanton. Step Sons Theodore “Ted” Evans and Matthew Evans. Hal will be forever missed by his wife of 30 years, Mary Kathryn (Hollobaugh) Stanton of Gladwin, MI. The Stanton Children; Sue Voorhies, of Auburn, WA; Beth Stanton of Southgate, MI; Charles (Janette) Stanton of Trenton, MI and Peter (Katherine) Stanton of Dallas, TX. The Evans Children; Timothy Evans of Britton, MI; Jeanne (Ronald) Ridley of Midland, MI; Thomas (Denise) Evans of Midland, MI and Mary Joseph (Tom) DeSantis of Trenton, MI. Grandchildren; Emily and Andrea Voorhies; Wes (Kristin) Stanton; Chase Stanton; Ryan, Lucas and Grace Stanton; Ian (Michelle) Evans; Amber (Luke) Ponce; Jessie Evans; Marshal Evans; James Evans; Grace and Hope Ridley; Michael, Daniel, Rachel, Elizabeth, Jonathan and Sarah Evans; Kathryn and Mariesa DeSantis. Great Grandchildren; Cash Stanton; Logan Harris and Riley Evans; Rory Ponce; Aidan and Addison Rakovits.Brother James (Martha) Stanton of Amsterdam, NY; Sister In Law Katherine Stanton of Fort Edward, NY. Nieces and Nephews; William, Robert and Elizabeth Stanton; Linda (John) Hayduck; Amy (Patrick) Rogers and James (Stephanie) Stanton. His former wife Meryl J. Coleman of Florence, OR. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist with Pastor David Snyder and Pastor David Sprang of the Christ of King Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010 from 2-9 P.M. at the Sisson Funeral Home and again on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery at a later date. Wishes of Hal and Mary Kay Stanton in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Hal to a church of your choice, Gladwin Co. District Library, The Gideons International, Gladwin County Camp or the Mid-Michigan Home Care/Hospice.
