Henry G. "Hank" James
Gladwin, Michigan

Henry G. James " Hank" was born in Lansing Michigan on 8-15-1938. He attended J.W. Sexton High School until the age of 17 where he went in the USMC and finished Schooling. He proudly served 8 years in the United States Marine Corp, 1st Marine Division as a Radio Telegraph Operator. Rank E-5, Sergeant. He also served 4 years in the Army National Guard 755 Maintenance Co. Rank of Sergeant E-5. He loved his country and served with honor. After serving his country he married the love of his life Shirley Blinn James and they resided in Lansing Michigan where he worked and raised two children Patrick and Suzanne James. Hank worked for the Lansing Fire Department from 1962 to 1973 as a Firefighter and 2nd Engineer. Later they moved to Sunfield MI where they lived and He worked and retired from Fisher Body. After retiring Shirley and Hank moved to their cabin on Elk Lake in Gladwin MI where they enjoyed the peacefulness of lake living. He was a Big Spartan Fan, loved to draw and build his own models of military ships, tanks and planes, loved westerns, military movies, reading and woodworking. He was the Rock of the family, a loving and caring father and husband. His bright smile and humorous personality made it easy to love him. Courageously he battled cancer three times in the last 10 years. Always stepping forward always strong. His faith in God and his family's love fueled his fight. On April 22nd the Lord called him home. He is preceded in death by his parents Richard (Jennie) James, his brothers, Frank, Fred and Lee. His sister Georgia Moore. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Blinn James, his Daughter Suzanne James, (Tim Portee) Grandson Donovan James. His son Patrick James, (Dawn Warner, Alyssa Ostrander) and His Brothers; Harold (Janet) James and Donald James. The family wishes to convey our sincerest appreciation for everyone's prayers and supporting during this difficult time. A memorial will be set at a later date to honor Henry G. James.
