Mr. Gibson 68 passed away Saturday July 16, 2016 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Highland Park, Michigan on May 17, 1948 to the late Maurice & Virginia (Davey) Gibson. He married the former Gale Stevenson on February 11, 1978 in Taylor, Michigan she survives him. Jim was retired as a Corporal from the Wayne County Sheriff Department after 20 years of service. They moved to Gladwin in 1989 where he became the “go to guy” for anyone needing something fixed. His specialty was auto body work and repair. He enjoyed golfing, going up north to the dunes and being with his family. He was a member of the Secord Lake Eagles.
He is surviving besides his wife of 38 years are 2 sons Brian & Karen Lisiecki Gibson, Steven Gibson adopted son Jim Burdick; grandchildren Dylan, Dustin, Kyle, Logan and Gavin; sister Marilyn & James Lee; father & mother in law Harvey & Irene Stevenson; sisters in law Lori & Richard Marl and Linda (Timothy Steinhardt) Stevenson-Carroll. The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to the caregivers and nurses from Compassus Hospice and homecare for the care given to Jim and his family.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday July 21, 2016 at 11 am from the Sisson Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 to 8 pm and Thursday 10 am until services.
