Mr. Phillips 80 passed away Saturday September 21, 2013 at Masonic Pathways, Alma following a brief illness. He was born in Detroit, Michigan to The late William & Nellie (Macklin) Phillips. He married the former Nora Mae Murphey on July 2, 1955 in Southfield, Michigan. She preceded him in January 3, 2005 after fifty years of marriage. He served his country in the U. S. Army being stationed in Germany. He was a craftsman drywaller and a master wood carver. Jim was an active member of the Gladwin Masonic Lodge 397 and Shiners and enjoyed restoring old cars.
He is survived by his children Deborah & William Kotecki and Richard & Connie Phillips; 5 grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Wilba Jaffrey.
Funeral and committal service will be held Tuesday September 24, 2013 at 1pm at Rich Township Cemetery, Mayville with Pastor Tony Reynolds presiding with Masonic and military honors. Family will greet family and friends at the graveside from 12 noon until time of services. Arrangements are entrusted to Sisson Funeral Home. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alzheimer Association.Â
