James W. Compton, 69, of Gladwin, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Gladwin Nursing & Rehabilitation Community after a long battle with MS.
Born December 18, 1944 in Romeo MI, he was the son of the late Ernest and Geraldine Compton of Romeo. Jim was an Elementary School Teacher for the Romeo public school system for 15 years before his illness forced an early retirement. He has been a resident of Gladwin County for over 30 years.
James married Gale Ann Feole, Aug. 26, 1967 in Walled Lake. Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Kelly Bowman of Midland, Matthew Compton and his wife Jolene of Beaverton, and Camarin Talarico and her husband Steve of Grayling, as well as four grandchildren, Brittany, Morgan, Sydney, and Colton.
In accordance with Jim’s wishes cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 12:30 at the Meridian Church of God in Sanford with Pastor Kevin Tippin officiating. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
