Jeanne Evelyn Durham passed away at home on October 19, 2015 after a lingering illness. Jeanne was born on January 8, 1930, in Detroit, MI; she was the daughter of Gertrude E. (Stickel) and Louis Charles Gerald VanBocxlaer. She had resided in Gladwin since the age of ten. Jeanne retired from the Gladwin County Abstract Company in 1980 after many years working there as a clerk.

Jeanne was an active member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church, a Gladwin Hospice volunteer and a volunteer for the Gladwin Hospital Auxiliary. In addition to her volunteer work, Jeanne loved to sing and performed with the Community Choir, her church choir and, one of her favorites, singing in the Living Christmas Tree. She also loved to travel and spent time traveling throughout the country with her husband Joseph Durham and then after his death traveled overseas and around the U.S. in her motorhome with her adventure buddies Jan and Barb.

She is survived by her children Karen Breault of Gladwin, Sandy (Richard) Deuster of Hubertus, WI, Kevin (Teri) Hawley of Northville, MI, Alan Hawley of Gladwin, daughter-in-law Carol Hall of Cadillac, MI, and brother and sister-in-law Ronald L. and Loretta VanBocxlaer of Saginaw, MI.

Jeanne was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren: Sherri, Jeff (Erika), Jimmy (Melissa), Shelley (Jake), Heide (Dennis), Melissa (Mike) and David. She was also blessed with twelve great grandchildren: Katie, Erin, Hayley, Ben, Patrick, Julia, Misty, Megan, Michelle, Madelyne, Jordyn, and Nolan.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph (Port) Durham; son, Douglas S. Hall; son-in-law, Derry Breault; grandson, Rodney Lee Breault.

There will be visitation at Sisson Funeral Home, 135 N. Silverleaf Street, on Wednesday, October 21 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services for Jeanne will take place on Thursday, the 22, at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 3925 Round Lake Road, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the service beginning at 11. Interment will follow immediately after the service at the Highland Cemetery, Gladwin.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Gladwin Hospital Auxiliary, Gladwin Hospice, or Heartland Hospice.
