Jerome “Jerry” Morris, age 56, of Gladwin, Michigan passed away on Friday, May 12th at the Midland Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Jerry grew up in Drayton Plains, MI and graduated from Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School in 1978. He was #5 in the line-up of seven sons born to Jerome and Carlene (Linsenman) Morris, In summer of 1978 the family moved north and Jerry started working for Ashcrafts grocery in Gladwin. After a few years he began the 40 minute drive to the Soaring Eagle Casino. He worked in a few different departments and until February 23rd worked in Accounting as the Senior Accounting Clerk. Jerry had many good friends at the Casino and spoke of them often.
His happiest times were family get-togethers with his mom and step-dad, Don Bischoff, and all his brothers, sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. He especially enjoyed the Baseball Tournaments at Barton City, in which his family team “Morris & Co.” played for 30 consecutive years. He absolutely loved and talked many times about the camping trips he took many years ago with his brother, Joe, and his children, Kreg, Kolt and Brook.
Jerome was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in mid-February and even tho’ he fought hard he had to heed the loving call of our Lord. And so after many hours of strife he left us very quietly and peacefully. Jerry was loved greatly and, will always be missed by his mom, Carlene, and his step-dad, Don, as well as his six brothers and their wives: Chris and Chy (Councilor), Jeff and Merry (Smith), Tim and Kathy (Hawkes), James and Norma (Boyea), Joe and Tammy (Render), Carl and Claire (Fortosis) and his step-sisters, Barbara Bischoff, Laurie Bischoff, Kathy Beaton, Jeanette Radcliff and many (23) very loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation at Sisson Funeral home on Tuesday, May 16th from 4 to 8 pm with Prayer Service @ 7 p.m. Showing at Sacred Heart Catholic Church @ 10:00 on Wednesday morning with the Funeral Mass @ 11:00 a.m. Father M. Portelli officiating with burial in Highland Cemetery.
