Obituary for Joseph C. White
Joseph “Joe” Carl White, 90 of Gladwin, Michigan was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on July 30th, 2015.
Joe was a man who served his community, country and Lord. He was born and raised in Harrison, Michigan until 17 when he enlisted in the Navy and served during World War 2, mainly on the USS Saratoga. As Navy Fireman First Class he received numerous honors among them the Bronze Star and Victory Medal.
Joe made is living as a part owner in dairy business. Later in life he became a pastor. He led the flock at Hockaday Community Church for a time but he is also remembered for his ministry at the Gladwin County Jail. Joe served on the Veterans Affairs Committee as the WWII representative and he also helped with administrative duties in the local VA office.
Joe was preceded in death by Joyce Thomas White, Muriel White and Ann White, as well as his parents. Surviving family members are Joe’s children and step children and 6 of his siblings.
Visitation will be held on Monday Aug 3rd from 2 to 8 at Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin and the Service on Tuesday Aug 4th at 11:00am. Burial at the National Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI will be on Wed Aug 5th at 11:30am.
