Mrs. Smith 84 passed away peacefully Saturday May 26, 2012 following a lingering illness with her family at her side. She was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on May 31, 1927 to the late John & Winifred (Brown) Hagan. She married Melvin G. Smith on January 20, 1962 in Davison. He preceded her in death on August 10, 2000.
Kay worked at Whitey’s Restaurant in Davison for 40 years. She was a member of the Davison Eagles, Davison Fire Department Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children Julie &Wes Parker of Gladwin, Connie & Mike Johnson of Sophia, North Carolina and John & MariAnne Smith of Caro; 5 grand children; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; one brother John & Grace Hagan of Rockland, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by a grandson Kyle Johnson, 5 sisters and 1 brother.
Funeral and committal services will be held Monday June 18, 2012 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly Michigan. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Kyle Johnson Scholarship Fund. Arrangements are entrusted to Sisson Funeral Home a Veteran’s Funeral Care Provider for the veteran and their family.
