Obituary for Larry Cecil Shuart
Larry Shuart, age 88, of Gladwin went to be with his Lord after his last battle he would fight ended on Tuesday August 1, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Shuart, his children Edward (Michelle) Shuart, Debra (Kenneth) Pegouskie, daughter in law Debra Shuart as well as eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Larry was proceeded in death by his son Thomas Shuart. Larry enlisted at age 17 and was sent to Korea to repatriate the Japanese people back to their country after the war ended. Outfit served with: 1st ENGR {C} BN-23rd ENG {C} BN-8th ENGR {C} BN-19th ENGR BN {A}. Basic Training was at Ft. Lewis, Washington. Service schools completed: NCO.; Heavy Equipment School; and Floating and Fixed Bridge Construction School. Rank received: 1st Sergeant: E-8 - Service No. RA 16212957. Larry took part in battles in WWII; Korea and Vietnam. Larry served 9 yrs. in Germany; 2 1/2 yrs. in Korea and one Tour in Viet Nam. Separation from service occurred on Sept. 1, 1967 (Retired) at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Occupation after service: Mail Carrier - Advanced to Delivery Supervisor. He and his wife enjoyed a lengthy retirement and spent their time traveling and exploring the United States while making many new lifelong friends. He was loved and depended on by his children and grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4th from 2-8pm followed by a funeral service 12:30pm Saturday at Sisson Funeral Home, 135 N. Silverleaf, Gladwin. Inurnment Great Lakes National Cemetery.
