Mr. Hawkins 59 passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side Friday March 1, 2013 at his daughter’s home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Columbus, Georgia on October 5, 1953 to the late Victor & Laura (Regan) Hawkins. He married the former Lorain Porter in Madison Heights, Michigan on September 10, 1983, she survives him. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War serving in the U.S. Navy. Mike was a retired millwright from Local 1102 and a sales person for Lowes in Madison Heights. He enjoyed music, bowling and spending time with his family.
He is survived beside his wife of 29 years are children Michelle Hawkins, Tony & Connie Sigmon, Evelyn & Rodney DeCare, Jannie & Larry DeCare, David & Andrea Sigmon and Joseph & Soppia Sigmon; 15 grandchildren; a brother Jimmy & Gail Hawkins and a sister Janice Hawkins. He was preceded in death by a sister Vickie Davis.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday March 9, 2013 at 2 pm at his daughter’s home 1010 Star City Rd, Lake City, Michigan. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to direct them to 1010 Star City Rd., Lake City, MI 49651 Arrangements are entrusted to Sisson Funeral Home, Gladwin a Veterans Funeral Care Provider.
