Mr. O’Brien 88 passed away peacefully Friday April 19, 2013 at his home with his family at his side following a lingering illness. He was born in Logansport, Indiana to the late Larus & Mildred (Davidson) O’Brien on July 1, 1924. He married the former Margaret Edwards on December 28, 1947 in Lafayette, Indian, she survives him. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II as an engineer. He received his Masters Degree in engineering from Prude University and was retired from Ford Motor Corporation as a design engineer. Larus and Margaret enjoyed traveling & camping during which they traveled to every state and camped in the majority of the U.S. National Parks.
He is survived by his wife Margaret of 65 years their children Margaret O’Brien, Michael O’Brien and Larus Jay O’Brien; 2 grand children Michelle and Chelsea; 2 great grand children; His brother Carl O’Brien; 3 sisters Mildred Mae Sherman, Virginia Hettegener and Betty Jean O’Brien. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Thomas O’Brien and Robert O’Brien.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 24, 2013 at 10 am from the Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Bradstreet. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan with military honors. Friends may call at the Sisson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1 to 8 pm. On Wednesday Mr. O’Brien will lie in state at the church from 9 am to time of services. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Gladwin Cornerstone Baptist Church.
