Obituary for Lois E. Goodemoot
Lois Elaine Goodemoot, 95, of Lake Odessa, MI, died at her home on September 22, 2018. She passed away, surrounded by her loving family, in the room in which her late-husband was born. She was born to the late Tony and Mabel McCaul on February 6, 1923. Lois graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1940 where she was a member of the State Champion Lake Odessa High School Girls Basketball team. She married the late Myron “Mike” Goodemoot in 1940 and they lived together in Lake Odessa on their Centennial Farm on Goodemoot Road. There she became the matriarch of an ever-growing, cherished family. An incredible cook with the warmest of hearts, she truly welcomed all to the farm and no one ever left hungry. She was rarely found without a crochet hook in her hand, working on a new project for one of her grandkids. She was a long-time member of the Central United Methodist Church and worked for years at the Fate’s/Carl’s Supermarket in Lake Odessa.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Mike of 61 years, sons Gary and Roger, her parents, brothers Burton and Owen, and grandson Mikey. She is survived by four of her children, Barbara (Dennis) Sauers, Nancy (Phil) Potter, Jerri Yaeger, and Mark (Darlene) Goodemoot, daughter-in-law Jill Goodemoot, seventeen grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren, eighteen great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Doris and her sisters-in-law Peg Faulkner, Eunice Goodemoot, and Bernie Goodemoot.
Visitation will be held on September 25, 2018 at the Central United Methodist Church, 11AM-12PM, followed by the funeral service at 12PM. Private burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa. Condolences can be made to the family in care of Nancy Potter or Barbara Sauers. Arrangements were entrusted to Sisson Funeral Home, Gladwin, Michigan.
