Lola was able to express a happy rewarding life before saying good-bye to her family and friends. Lola departed July 18, 2013 at the Brook in Gladwin. She was born February 26, 1918 in Toledo, Ohio to the late George & Louise (Harter) Hillebrand. She moved with family to Flint, Michigan at a young age. Lola began a courtship as a senior in high school followed by a 49 years of marriage to Carrill Straley. He preceded her in death in 1985.
She is survived by two daughters Carolyn Weldon of Gladwin and Marolyn (Frank)Miglin of Escondido, CA; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and another one due to be born soon; one brother George Hillebrand of Wyoming, Ohio and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a great grandson Chad Clark. Lola retired from GM after 30 years of service. She was a member of the UAW 651 and the 629 Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Â Lola in the last few months asked her daughters to thank her friends and Family for helping give her a wonderful life. The family would also like to Thank the Brook for the wonderful care given to her especially Sherry & Mari also, Hospice advantage Amber and Crystal for the comfort and care given to her and the family.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday July 24, 2013 at 1 pm from the Swartz Funeral Home, 125 W. Hill Rd, Flint, Michigan with Pastor Jeremy Africa presiding with entombment in Flint Memorial park Mausoleum. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm and Wednesday noon until time of services. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Heart association or the Diabetes Association. Arrangements entrusted to Sisson Funeral Home, Gladwin, Michigan
