Obituary for Loyd E. Porter
Loyd Porter Gladwin, Michigan Loyd Porter 83 passed away on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Mid Michigan Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born on March 4, 1928 in Gladwin, Michigan to the late Marvin and Doris (Parker) Porter. He married the former Sally Sian in Gladwin on July 15, 1999. Lloyd served in the U.S. Army and was a hobby farmer. Loyd traveled to Detroit with his best friend Eugene where he owned a fencing company for years then worked as an Iron Worker at Local #25 until he retired in 1988. He then moved back to the farm. He loved his 40 acre farm, his mini horses and cat. He took great joy in watching his children and grandchildren play on the farm during their visits. Also enjoyed dancing and was a member of the Moose in Harrison, MI. Loyd is survived by his wife Sally, four sons David (Gwen) Porter, Jeffery (Tina) Porter , Arnold (Angie) Heath, Daniel (Anne) Heath, one daughter Norma Burke, a daughter in law Denise Porter, twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by his son Steven. He is survived by four sisters Katherine Wheeler, Carolyn Clore, Shirley Clayton and Michelle Macauley, five brothers Ronald Porter, James Porter, Larry Porter, Roger Porter and Charles Porter. He is predeceased by one Sister Inez Walton and Brothers William, Richard, Gerald and Marvin. In accordance with Loyd’s wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned at the farm at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sisson Funeral Home.
