Obituary for Lyle H. Holly Jr.
Lyle Hoyt Holly Jr. died 12/31/18 in Alma Hospital after a long illness. Lyle was born in Muskegon on September 28, 1936 to Lyle H. Holly Sr. & Dorothy Miller. Lyle married Janis Ruth Shearer on June 27th, 1959 in First Church of the Nazarene in Muskegon, MI. She preceded him in death on February 4, 2018. Lyle graduated from Muskegon High School in 1955. He then went to Muskegon Community College for 2 years, then transferred to Central Michigan University & graduated with a Masters Degree in education. He went on to teach in Muskegon Heights, Burr Oak School (where he also coached basketball) and Gladwin Community Schools where he retired from. Lyle also worked in the church and coached little league. He enjoyed family dinners, cross word puzzles, golf, shopping, and having coffee with friends at McDonalds. Lyle was very appreciative of his grandmother who helped raise him. Lyle is survived by his three sons Craig Holly of Turlock, CA, Jeff (Joni) Holly of Cadillac, and Brian (Judy) Holly of Midland. Grandchildren Shane, Jessica, Luke, Megan, step grandchildren Kevin & Kelly. He also has several great grandchildren. Lyle is also survived by his brother Walter Holly of Muskegon, 3 sister in laws, several nieces & nephews. In addition to his wife Janis, Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janet Gilmore and nephew Randy Gilmore. Visitation for Lyle will be Monday January 7, 2019 from 1pm-3pm at Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin, MI. Funeral service will be 3 pm at the funeral home.
