Marvin A. Bonham
Marvin A. (Marv) Bonham, 84, of Gladwin, MI passed away peacefully on August 24, 2014. For 64 years he was the dearly loved husband and is survived by his wife, Bonna (Olin) Bonham. He was the brother of Ron (Joyce) Bonham of Midland, Tom (Lois) Bonham of Sanford, and Linda (Paul) Clapp of Clearwater, FL.
His children, Mark (Mary) Bonham of Kalamazoo, Dave (Colleen) Bonham of Gladwin, Deanna (Jim) Hanley of Tawas, as well as his eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren will deeply miss his caring presence.
Born in Midland, MI on April 21, 1930, he was 16 years old when he moved to a farm in Gladwin. He married Bonna on June 3, 1950 and would eventually work for 32 years for Dow Corning Corporation in Midland. He was an avid horseman with numerous trophies and awards won as an owner and trainer of Appaloosa race horses.
He was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and usher. Marvin became a believer in and follower of Jesus Christ in his late teens and was always ready to serve and help others wherever needed. He was prepared and ready to be with His Lord and Savior.
He served on the Gladwin County fair board and as Sage Township zoning administrator. In his younger years he was a colorful addition to Gladwin parades on his Appaloosa stallion, Poppin Patches, decked out in Native American costume.
Visitation will be held at Sisson Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 26 from 4:00-8:00 pm. A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, August 27 at 11:00 am at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Bradstreet officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church building fund.
