Mrs. Lauer 88 passed away Saturday January 24, 2015 at the Brook Retirement Community-Gladwin following a lingering illness. She was born in Rose City on October 13, 1926 to the late Carl & Eva (Earle) Gifford and her step father George Tennant. She married Russel “Jack” Lauer on May 7, 1943 at the Woodside Avenue Methodist Church, Bay City. He preceded her in death in 1994. Maxine was a LPN for 35 years and worked at Mercy & General Hospitals and as a private duty nurse in Bay City. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center with her friends and quilting.
She is survived by her children Richard “Dick” & Karen Lauer and Kathryn J. Waldron; daughter in law Nancy Lauer; grandchildren Matthew (Kelli) Lauer, Jennifer (AJ) Leunberg, Katie Lauer, Jeff (Missy) Waldron, Thomas Lauer, and Cindy Lauer; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; a sister Eleanor Zielinski, step brother Wayne (Phyllis) Tennant. She was preceded in death by a son Russel Lauer, a granddaughter Tracy Boks and a brother Jack Gifford.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday January 29, 2015 at 11 am from the Sisson Funeral Home with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, South Branch. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 am until time services at the funeral home. Those wishing an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers are asked to consider Trinity United Methodist Church, Rose City, Michigan.
