Mr. Tate 70 passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 11, 2013 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center- Midland following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born November 3, 1942 in Peoria, Illinois to the late William & Edna (Lawson) Tate. He married the former Janet Rickey on January 17, 1964 in Princeville, Illinois, she survives him. Mike retired from Levi Strauss in August 1999 and moved to Sugar Springs from Chicago, where he enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite and loved woodworking.
Surviving besides his wife of 49 years are their children Jennifer & Randy Cleveland and Michelle & Alex Dzigurski; 2 grandchildren Nicholas and Hali Dzigurski; 2 brothers David & Shirley Tate and Danny & Sharon Tate.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday September 14, 2013 at 11 am from Sisson Funeral Home with Pastors Jason Sniff and Sharon Koenitzer presiding. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 am until services followed by a meal at the Sugar Springs Country Club, 1930 Sugar River Rd. Gladwin, Michigan. Those considering an expression of sympathy are asked for them to be made to Hospice of Helping Hands of West Branch, P.O. Box 307, West Branch, Michigan 48661.
