Mr. Riley 91 passed away peacefully on Thursday March 28, 2019 at Horizon Senior Living Center following a brief illness. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 20, 1927 to the late Raymond & Nellie (McGrath) Riley. He married the former Sally L. Jenkins on July 17, 1948 in Royal Oak, Michigan, she survives him. Ray enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduating from high school during W.W. II. He was retired from General Motors Tech Center as manager of the styling department. He and Sally moved to Gladwin where he enjoyed making bird houses, fishing, watching hockey and traveling with Sally and their friends. His family will cherish the memory of his sense of humor that he had right to his last days.
Surviving besides his wife of 70 years are their children Barbara Riley and Carrie & Graham Baxter; a son in law Ron Weatherington; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Susan Weatherington and a sister Marge Ouellette.
Honoring Ray’s wishes cremation will take place with a memorial service to be held Sunday April 7, 2019 at 1 pm at Sisson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tony Reynolds presiding. Inurnment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Family will be present at the funeral home from 12 noon until time of services.
