Obituary for Robert F. Clendening
Robert F. Clendening May 4, 1912 – February 14, 2010 A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Robert F. Clendening at the Assembly of God Church in Gladwin, MI, on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Don Potter and Brad Withrow officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2010 from 2-8 P.M. at the Sisson Funeral Home. Having been a Buick and Pontiac dealer located at the intersection of M-61 and Silverleaf St. in Gladwin, Bob was well known throughout the area. After his retirement, Bob and Vera spent winters in Ft. Myers, Florida. Bob’s passing was at the Gladwin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Pratt Lake Rd. He was born in Middle Point, Ohio on May 4, 1912 the son of the late Ervin and Anna Jane (Ringwald) Clendening. He and his wife Vera (Grove) Clendening celebrated their 70th Anniversary on June 10, 2009. He was preceded in death by brothers, Byron J. Clendening and Lawrence William (Bill) Clendening and sister Virginia Laundroche. He is survived by his wife as well as his two sisters, Marylyn C. Krueger of Wilmington, NC and Georgia C. Warner of Lake Isabella, MI. In World War ll, Bob was in service as a supply sergeant whose special focus was to ward off buzz bombs aimed at England from Germany. Bob remained in the Army of occupation until January 1946 almost 4 months after the war had ended. Bob was an avid golfer both in Gladwin and Ft. Myers. He and Vera were long standing members of the Assembly of God Church.
