Obituary for Robert J. Beattie
Robert J. Beattie, age 79, of Prudenville, MI, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the Mid-Michigan Gladwin Pines Nursing Center. He was born July 21, 1930 to Robert and Edna Beattie in Bowling Green, KY. Robert graduated from Murray State University in 1953. He married Joyce Barnes of Houghton Lake, MI, in 1954. Robert worked for General Motors for 33 years before retiring, was then called in to work on the Saturn Car while it was getting ready for production, leaving there going to Ford Motor Company and continuing on with his job of international compliance for seven years. Surviving besides his wife, Joyce, are two children, a daughter Sharon Ross of Houghton Lake, MI and a son Thomas Beattie of Houghton Lake, MI. There are 6 grandchildren, Sean Ross of Texas, Nicholas Ross of Houghton Lake, Brandon, Orye and Stormy Beattie of Sterling Heights, MI and Justin Beattie of Houghton Lake. In following with Robert’s request cremation has taken place and there will be no public services held. He will be laid to rest in Clay, Kentucky next to his maternal grandparents that raised him. Arrangements were entrusted to the Sisson Funeral Home, Gladwin, MI.
