Mr. Varney 75 passed away Saturday June 7, 2014 at MidMichigan-Gladwin following a lingering illness. He was born in Greenville, Michigan on March 19, 1939 to the late Freeman & Irene (Bauman) Varney. He married the former Sonja Longwell in Harrison on October 19, 1990, she survives him. He was retired from Laborers Workers Local 1098. Ron loved fishing and visiting & sharing stories with anyone he met. He especially enjoyed being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, children Donna & Gary Smith, Karen Varney, Jacob Varney& Jeff Nesseth and Rebecca & Nicholas Crawford; step children Joseph Kozma Jr., Dolores Kozma, Beth & Delos Colston, Christine Belcher and Cathy Taylor-Roach; 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; brother Dale & Louise Varney, Keith & Jackie Varney and Larry & Shirley Varney; numerous nieces & nephews, cousins and extended family.
A Celebration of Life Service and potluck will be held Thursday June 12, 2014 at 1 pm from the Gladwin Eagles Club, 101 N. State, Gladwin, MI 48624 with Mr. Bill Gooch presiding with cremation to follow and arrangements were entrusted to Sisson Funeral Home.
