Rowland E. Thomas, 78, of Gladwin went to be with the Lord on March 22, 2016 following an illness for several months. Rowland was born in Gladwin on Oct 9, 1937, son of Kenneth and Margaret (Yeager) Thomas. He served 4 years in the Navy and later moved to St. Johns where he worked for 30 years at General Motors Buick Plant. After retirement he moved back to Gladwin and became an active member of Hockaday Community Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening. Survived by his two children, son Keith (Dolores) Thomas and Angie (Roger) Van Cleve, five grandchildren Caitlin and Haley Thomas, Zachary, Stephanie, and Jacob Van Cleve. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Margaret Thomas, brothers, Glen and Lew Thomas, sister Joanne Shultz, and his daughter Cynthia Kay Thomas. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday March 29, 2016 at Sisson Funeral Home with Pastor Skip Metzler officiating. Interment and military honors will take place at Butman Township Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held on Monday March 28, 2016 from 1-8 pm and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Iin lieu of flowers the family wish all contributions go to the Hockaday Community Church or a charity of their choosing. Arrangements were entrusted to Sisson Funeral Home.
