Ruth Solarski, 99, entered the Church triumphant on Friday, October 28, 2016 at her home surrounded by love. She was born in Riga, Michigan on August 17, 1917 to the late John Schneider DVM and Hulda Martha Lena (Knoblauch) Schneider. She was a graduate of Blissfield High School Class of 1936. She retired from Ford Motor Company after 23 years of service. After retirement, Ruth and her late husband, Walter, moved to their cabin in Gladwin (Grass Lake) with their beloved poodle, Tinkerbell. Ruth will be remembered for baking pies for Grass Lake bingo and family gatherings, her homemade pumpkin bread given out to her friends at the Brook, her title as #1 Potato Peeler, and her ever-present smile. She was baptized and confirmed at the church she was born next to, Trinity Lutheran Church of Riga, Michigan. Ruth was also a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Blissfield, Michigan. After moving to Gladwin, Ruth and Walter were members of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
She is survived by daughters Ruth (William) Getzen of Rockford, Michigan and Elizabeth Seeburger of Blissfield, Michigan, daughter-in-law Vicki Frost of Tecumseh, Michigan, step-daughters Sandra McDonnell of Adrian, Michigan, Kathy (Phil) Mobley of Starke, Florida and Agnes Jones of Stanton, Michigan and step-son Walter (Dolly) Solarski Junior of Phoenix, Arizona. Grandchildren are James (Donna) Sowle, Pam (Kevin) Nash, Mark (Laura) Getzen, Tonya Gowan, Katherine Seeburger, Adam Seeburger, Jeff (Valbona) Frost, Chad Frost, Tina (Greg) Riker, Jesus Lee (Soley) Sanchez, Candy Sue Mobley, Phillip Mobley, Nathan Solarski, Jennifer Solarski, Dawn William, Regina Baker and Deborah Jaimes, 32 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, her son Charles Frost, her brothers John Schneider, Donald Schneider, half-brother Gordon Schneider, half-sister Muriel Schneider, step-brother Wilbur Holmes, and grandsons Eric Getzen and Walter Solarski III.
Family will greet friends at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin, Michigan on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 beginning at 9:00am until time of service. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am at the church with Pastor James Krach presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice of West Branch, Michigan or Our Savior Lutheran Church. The family would like to express deepest gratitude to the wonderful, caring people of Heartland Hospice and The Brook in Gladwin, Michigan.
