Obituary for Virginia Mary Olson
Virginia Mary Olson, 90, of Gladwin Michigan, passed away on December 17, 2018 at Country Place Senior Care Center in Mount Pleasant. Virginia was born in Detroit to Joseph and Catherine Shultz on May 28, 1928. She married Lonnie Olson on August 3, 1957. She was a homemaker, member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and loved by many. Virginia loved bowling, hunting, fishing, Wyoming adventures, enjoying time with her grandsons and cooking for friends and family. Virginia is preceded in death by her husband Lonnie Olson; brothers Leonard Shultz, Norman Shultz and Robert Shultz; and sisters Dorothy Soloway and Gertrude Brown. Virginia is survived by her daughter Deborah Dawson-Gunther (husband Al); her son James (wife Amy); grandsons Alexander Dawson (wife Camille), Stephen Dawson, Michael Olson, Jonathan Olson and Thomas Olson; great grandson Luca Dawson, Goddaughter Katheryn Brown and bonus family Megan Johnsen, Jennifer Johnsen, Bridget Williams (husband Ben), Brittany Johnson (husband Jason) including loads of little ones: Victoria, James, Cora, River, Forest, Max and Fin. Visitation will be January 3, 2019 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral services will immediately follow visitation at 11:00am with the Father J. Marcell Portelli of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. Memorials may be given to support the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease and Residential Hospice. The family of Virginia wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to Country Place Senior Care Center for the wonderful loving care they provided in Virginia’s final days. Arrangements were entrusted to Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin.
