Mr. Hooper 102 passed away Tuesday September 20, 2016 at Gladwin Nursing & Rehabilitation following a brief illness. He was born in Port Huron, Michigan on September 30, 1913 to the late Walter & Minnie (VanVleet) Hooper. Walter was an Eagle Scout and received the Silver Beaver Award and supported the Boy Scouts of America. He was retired from Fisher Body General Motors Plant of Livonia. After his retirement he lived in Florida. He loved to sing in the church choirs at the North Park Presbyterian in Grand Rapids and First Congregational Church in Wayne Michigan. He enjoyed golfing, trout fishing, traveling & camping with the Lamplighter Club, square dancing and even calling dances.
He is survived by 3 sons Don & Rose Hooper, Ray & Sally Hooper and Gill & Meezan Hooper; 2 step sons Rex Wilhoite and Hershal & Karin Wilhoite; a step daughter in law Sue Wilhoite; many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Alfreda and his second wife Ola and a step son Kenneth Wilhoite.
Celebration of his Life will be held Monday October 10, 2016 at 2 pm at the Sisson Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Reynolds presiding with inurnment in Cadillac Memorial Park in Westland. Family will receive friends and family on Monday from 12 Noon until 2 pm. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Heartland Hospice.
