Obituary for William Lewis Babcock
William Babcock 75 passed away February 23, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on November 4, 1936 in Coleman, Michigan to Richard and Ina (Thompson) Babcock. They are both deceased. He married Lois Babcock who is the mother of his children. They were married for 33 years, he then married Charlotte Babcock on November 4, 1994 in Midland. She survives him. He is also survived by his son Cameron Babcock, and daughters Denise Babcock of Colorado and Kathy Babcock of South Dakota, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 4 brothers Richard (Vicky), Bob (Jane), Jim, Sherman and one sister Dorothy. He also leaves behind many friends. Bill worked most of his life as a machinist. He was an avid advocate of the Veterans who served our country. He was a service officer for the D.A.V., member of the VFW, he collected items every year for the Veterans Home in Grand Rapids. He was a commissioner for Grout and Beaverton Township. He was intrigued with American history, worked with the Historical Society, did civil war reenactments, visited schools in period dress to educate the children. He loved to shoot and was a member of the Tobacco River Muzzle Loader Association. In accordance with William’s wishes cremation has taken place and a service will not be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sisson Funeral Home.
