Mrs. Shearer 99 passed away Monday July 7, 2014 at Gladwin Nursing & rehabilitation Center following a lingering illness. She was born in Sage Twp. to the late Charles & Alta (Winner) Ballard. She married Alvin Shearer on August 3, 1932 at the Gladwin Free Methodist Church, he preceded her in death on January 11, 1993. Dorothy was retired from the Gladwin Hospital where she worked as a nurse’s assistant and was a life time member of the Gladwin Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and writing leaving behind a life time of memories in her journals and poetry for her family to treasure.
She is survived by her daughter Jean Hill of Gladwin, Lois & Fred Wilson of Sebewaing, Janis R. & Lyle Holly of Gladwin and Carol & John Ostergren of Midland; 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 31 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson Warren Wilson, son in law Byron Hill and 2 sisters Mary Haines and Bernice Wilson.
Funeral services will be held Friday July 11, 2014 at 11 am from the Gladwin Free Methodist Church with pastors Phillip Hortop & Robert Marshall presiding with burial in Highland Cemetery. Family will greet friends at the Sisson Funeral Home, 135 N. Silverleaf St., Gladwin, MI on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm. On Friday Mrs. Shearer will lie in state at the church from 10 am until time of services. Those wishing and expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Gladwin Free Methodist Church.
